SLADA ensures that all potential Anti-Doping Rule Violations (ADRVs) are managed in a fair, consistent, and independent manner, strictly adhering to the World Anti-Doping Code and the International Standard for Results Management (ISRM).
1. Initial Review & Notification
Upon receiving an Adverse Analytical Finding (AAF) or other evidence, SLADA conducts an initial review. If a violation is asserted, the athlete is formally notified and informed of their rights.
2. Independent Hearing
The athlete has the right to a fair hearing before an independent panel. This panel is operationally independent from SLADA's investigation team. They review evidence and determining consequences.
3. Sanctions & Consequences
Sanctions are applied based on the Code. They can range from a warning to a lifetime ban, and include disqualification of results. Decisions are published publicly.
4. Appeal Rights
Decisions can be appealed. International-level athletes appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). National-level athletes appeal to the National Anti-Doping Appeal Panel.
Independent Bodies
To ensure impartiality, SLADA's hearings are conducted by independent panels appointed by the Ministry of Sports, comprising legal experts and medical professionals.
Disciplinary Panel
Hears first-instance cases.
Appeal Panel
Hears appeals from the Disciplinary Panel.
