Types of Anti-Doping Rule Violations
Presence of a Prohibited Substance
A prohibited substance or its markers/metabolites is found in an athlete’s sample, regardless of intent (strict liability).
Use or Attempted Use
The use or attempted use of a prohibited substance or method.
Evading, Refusing, or Failing to Submit to Sample Collection
Avoiding testing, refusing to submit to sample collection, or failing to comply with testing procedures.
Whereabouts Failures
Any combination of 3 missed tests and/or filing failures within a 12-month period for athletes in a Registered Testing Pool.
Tampering or Attempted Tampering
Interfering with any part of the doping control process.
Possession
Being in possession of a prohibited substance or method.
Trafficking or Attempted Trafficking
Selling, transporting, or distributing prohibited substances or methods.
Administration or Attempted Administration
Giving or trying to give a prohibited substance or method to an athlete.
Complicity or Attempted Complicity
Assisting, covering up, or being involved in an ADRV.
Prohibited Association
Associating with a coach, doctor, or support person who is serving a doping sanction.
Acts to Discourage or Retaliate Against Reporting
Retaliating against or discouraging someone from reporting potential doping violations to authorities.

- Suspension from competition (ranging from warnings to lifetime bans)
- Disqualification of results and forfeiture of medals/prizes
- Financial penalties and repayment of prize money
